Q : How long have you been in business?

A : I started fixing computer problems as a part-time sideline in 2001 in addition to being employed. By 2007 I felt I had gained a solid enough customer base and good enough reputation to pursue it as a full-time business. Although I do advertise in the Yellow Pages and other places, I'm proud to say that positive recommendations by word-of-mouth are still my primary source of new customers.

Q : Where did you learn all of this?
A : I'm entirely self-taught. I've been working with computers since I was 6 years old and have always enjoyed learning about how they work and how to solve problems with them. The problems have changed greatly over the years, but my interest in solving them has not.

Q : Do you cover the area I live in?
A : I'm primarily based in the Torbay area, including Brixham and Totnes, but I also have customers as far out as Dartmouth, Ashburton and Bovey Tracey. So providing you're within a reasonable distance, getting to you shouldn't be a problem.

Q : What is your No Fix, No Fee policy?
A : It's simple. If I'm unable to fix your problem or your device cannot be repaired then there is nothing to pay at all. In cases where a repair is offered but the customer elects not to proceed, a diagnostic fee may still be charged.

Q : Is that a motorbike?
A : Yes. Yes it is.

Q : Do you build new PCs?
A : Yes, I do. If you would like a brand new desktop PC, custom built to your requirements, then please get in touch on 07514 064297 or via this site's Contact Form and we can discuss building the perfect system for you.

Q : What's the best anti-virus program to use?
A : Contrary to popular belief, you don't have to pay out for big-name security suites to get reliable anti-virus protection. In fact there are alternatives that offer a comparable level of protection absolutely free of charge. If you're running Windows 7 or Windows Vista then I recommend Microsoft Security Essentials. For older machines running Windows XP, I recommend Avast! Free Antivirus.

Q : I received a call informing me there are problems with my computer. What should I do?
A : This is a known scam that is becoming increasingly common. The caller claims to be from Microsoft (or some other computer company), informs you that your computer has serious errors, then talks you through a process whereby they take remote control of your machine and claim to fix these fictitious problems, finally charging you anything up to £200 for this 'service'. Generally, I've not come across any persisting security issues on a system following one of these calls, even where the process has been followed in full. But if you'd like your PC checked for peace of mind that nothing has been left behind then get in touch and I'll be happy to give things a thorough check.
